New Jersey could have record-breaking warmth on Monday before temperatures plummet tonight, forecasters say.

Forecasters says there remains “quite a bit of uncertainty” about how much rain and wind we’ll receive on Friday and Saturday as it’s yet to be determined how Nicole will interact with a low pressure system expected to push across the U.S. from the Pacific Northwest.

In New Jersey, meanwhile, record-setting high temperatures are possible on Monday as the mercury climbs into the mid-70s under sunny skies. AcuWeather.com says Newark will reach 78 this afternoon, tying the Nov. 7 record set in 1938. Trenton is also expected to reach the mid 70s and challenge the daily record of 76 set in 1975. Atlantic City’s record of 77 established in 2020 is also in jeopardy. Highs in early November are typically in the upper 50s.

Temperatures reached the mid- to upper 70s again on Sunday, but daily record highs were not reached at the state’s three main weather reporting stations — in Newark, Trenton and Atlantic City.
