Robert Jeffress, pastor of First Dallas Baptist Church in Dallas, is declining — for now — to endorse former President Donald Trump.
Jeffress, pastor of Dallas’ First Baptist Church, called Trump “a great friend” and “our greatest president since Ronald Reagan” but he said he wants to stay out of Republican infighting during what he predicts will be a combative primary. Jeffress was among the first prominent evangelical leaders to endorse Trump in 2016 and was credited with helping him win over the evangelical vote.
