Gio Reyna's parents Danielle and Claudio have come forward as the source of allegations of domestic violence against U.S. men's national team head coach Gregg Berhalter.
The reports come one day after Berhalter took to social media to post a lengthy statement detailing
U.S. Soccer followed up Tuesday with a statement of their own, saying that upon hearing the allegations against Berhalter, they hired the law firm Alston & Bird to investigate the claims. U.S. Soccer said that the investigation is ongoing, but that it had revealed further potential issues involving multiple federation employees:
According to the Reynas, their call to Stewart came because they felt that by discussing the potential decision to dismiss Gio Reyna from the World Cup in a public forum, Gregg Berhalter had"betrayed" them.
