The infected Rhode Island patient, who's in their 40s, is currently being treated in hospital following a trip to Italy last month.

President Donald Trump cited a poll on Sunday that shows 77 percent of U.S. adults have confidence in the government's ability to handle the coronavirus outbreak, hours after the Rhode Island Department of Health announced the state's first presumptive positive case of the COVID-19 disease.

Officials in the state have begun to contact those who have had direct contact with the individual to ensure they undergo 14-day quarantine. The patient's family members have already started self-quarantining. "A Poll in today's New York Post says that 77% of 'U.S. adults have confidence in their government's ability to handle the Coronavirus , compared to other health threats,'" he tweeted."64% for Zika, 58% for Ebola. Others way down on list. Our professionals are doing a great job!"
