After 62 years as a leader of the modern conservative movement, there aren’t a lot of times when the word “new” is put next to Richard Viguerie’s name.
But today, the energetic 89-year-old father of direct political mail and the funding genius behind dozens of the most well-known conservative groups launched his new blog with a goal of energizing another generation.With Go Right Go Big, Viguerie told Secrets he will be pushing his messaging and trade secrets to about 100,000 who he hopes will take charge of the conservative movement.
“What I'm doing with the blog,” he said, is offering “conservative leaders, donors, activists, ideas, suggestions, strategy of how we can go forth and market our calls and market the Democrats.”In his Blog Post #1, Viguerie wrote that the first important ingredient to a potent campaign for money or office is to have a brand people understand.
“Donald Trump had a brand that clearly differentiated him from all others — he was the anti-establishment candidate. He was going to fight for the forgotten American. He spoke for the average voter against the special interests. Because of his wealth and business success, he didn’t need, depend, or rely on wealthy, special interest donors,” he wrote.
In fact, he said Trump’s “Make America Great Again” was the best motto in recent political history."The best tune to whistle in the last 40 years was, of course, MAGA, Make America Great Again," he told Secrets.He said his blog will initially appear weekly before adding up to three posts a week. “In my over-sixty years of involvement in conservative politics at the national level I have seen the ‘Reagan Revolution,’ the ‘Contract with America’ revolution, the ‘Tea Party’ wave, and the 2016 MAGA movement. We need to ‘GO RIGHT GO BIG’ to ignite the next one,” Viguerie said.
