Richardson ISD students returned to classes Tuesday amid a COVID-19 surge across North Texas.
The district said in an announcement that it will continue to monitor reports of positive COVID cases, symptoms and absences at all campuses. “If outbreaks occur within a classroom, grade level or school, the district will consult with Dallas County Health and Human Services … to determine if additional protocols should be put in place to help minimize spread, including use of masks or a temporary shift to virtual instruction,” the district stated.
recently experienced an outbreak that caused classes to go virtual from Dec. 15 through Dec. 17. On Dec. 14, the school reported having 24 positive cases. At that time, 17% of students and 30% of staff were absent.
