A sign that the A's have some powerful support came in an utterly shameless editorial published Thursday by the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

So throwing its weight behind A's owner John Fisher is light work, although it should be noted that paywalling agitprop seems like a questionable strategy. Behind that paywall, the editorial barely even tried to make an argument for gifting Fisher hundreds of millions of dollars.

“This is about more than economic development,” the editorial board wrote, admitting that the utility of public spending on stadiums is “often overstated.” “This is about Las Vegas’ long-term evolution as a community.” The editorial added that if this bill is voted down, the next MLB team considering a Vegas move would be far more expensive. And that was about it — the best case that media professionals could make for giving the A's a handout.
