Ashley Book, the medical director at 4 Little Paws Rescue, tells us that Phoenix was excited to eat and opened her eyes to look around today. Phoenix has been seeing a wound care specialist as she heals from the burns. Book says it's hard to know at this point what her recovery will look like."She smelled exactly like a fire pit," Book recalled.Book says the kind donations of the San Antonio and surrounding communities have been enough to cover her medical expenses thus far.
