The player that did not roll easily through Friday’s romp, however, came back to turn things around. When Alperen Sengun, who struggled on Friday, dominated on Saturday, scoring a career-high 27 points, he helped the Rockets pull away to top the Trail Blazers, 115-98. With wins in three of their past four games, the Rockets have won the second game of their past two back-to-backs after losing their first 11. Saturday’s win was their first in the 18 games Eric Gordon has missed.
But the Rockets’ greater issue was with the relative lack of intensity for what should have been a mismatch of a team at full strength and a team that had to be creative to put together a late-season team.
