The figures reported by the Ukrainian defense ministry will not correspond entirely to the battle for Bakhmut, and Kyiv's estimates for Russian casualties typically come in higher than Western estimates. Ukraine's military said on Monday that a total of 159,800 Russians had been killed in Ukraine since February 24, 2022.
