Rutgers lost to Michigan, 31-7, on Sept. 23. Were the Wolverines stealing signals?

It always struck me as the perfect example of a college football coach taking his jobWell, to adapt an old expression, it’s not paranoia if Jim Harbaugh really is out to get you.
The idea that Harbaugh or his staff would stoop to something like this is almost comical. Michigan has 100 years of tradition, a $200 million athletic budget and — if anybody still cares about this — one of the finest academic reputations for university that plays big-time college football. Michigan has the Big House, a stable of NFL players and every imaginable recruiting advantage.
Harbaugh already sat out the first three games of the season in an attempt to head off a separate NCAA probe related to recruiting during a COVID dead period and misleading statements to NCAA investigators. He isn’t exactly the most credible person when it comes to following the letter of the law these days in college sports.
If Harbaugh is guilty of a similar scheme, it will tarnish this excellent Michigan team’s recent rise to the top of the Big Ten. It will be fair to wonder: Did the Wolverines finally catch up to Ohio State in talent? Or did they have an unfair advantage these last two years when they brought down the Buckeyes after years of frustration?
