Facing an opponent that hadn’t won a match in nearly two months, San Antonio FC suffered a surprising 1-0 loss to Indy Eleven on Saturday at Michael A. Carroll Stadium in Indianapolis.
Though SAFC still holds the top spot in the USL Championship standings, Saturday’s setback caps a monthlong run of middling results. After a six-match win streak pushed San Antonio to 16-3-1, the club is just 2-2-2 since July 30.San Antonio built a 12-5 margin in shots and a 6-2 edge in shots on target but never found a breakthrough, even with 10 minutes of second-half stoppage time.
