Five will be chosen from 44 local teachers recognized by their districts and nominated as Teachers of the Year
Five San Diego County teachers will be named as 2023-24 Teachers of the Year at a special reception Aug. 25 as part of the 33rd annual “Cox Presents: Salute to Teachers,” sponsored by San Diego County Credit Union.
The five will be chosen from 44 local teachers recognized by their districts and nominated as Teachers of the Year. They will be selected based on student achievement, professional development and school community involvement, teaching philosophy, knowledge of educational issues and trends, promotion and development of the teaching profession, and ability to serve as ambassadors of education.
In partnership with the San Diego County Office of Education, Cox Communications will produce multiple 30-minute “Cox Presents: Salute to Teachers” television specials to highlight local teachers. At 1 and 9:30 p.m. throughout July and August, viewers can visit with the current county Teachers of the Year and hear from their colleagues and students about their impact in and out of the classroom.Former county Teacher of the Year Xye Sanders will serve as co-host at the August reception.
