Mayor London Breed selected two projects on Tuesday to split $32 million in newly released city funds. Multiple organizations were in the running to receive assistance, and applications closed in April. The city has also allocated millions this year to housing and shelters for the homeless in an attempt to curb a severe homelessness crisis.One project will consist of a 63-unit housing development at 2205 Mission St.
The city began the construction of the first affordable housing project for educators in 2022, providing 134 units and spending $105 million on the project for district employees in the Outer Sunset neighborhood in San Francisco. Breed and other local leaders praised the projects for the positive effects they are expected to have on neighborhoods and on local schools.
