If you take a stroll up to the steep and narrow end of Grant Avenue, on the northern slopes of Telegraph Hill, look out for a curious sign looking over an unassuming staircase on the right: “Dead end stairway. No outlet.”
Built single-handedly by a man who dreamed of peace and quiet, and eventually dedicated to him by the city, Jack Early Park is one of the most curious corners of San Francisco.
