A Target in San Francisco has locked up many products behind security glass amid an uptick in shoplifting.

The former city official was hospitalized last week after he says a group of homeless people attacked him with a pipe outside his mother's house. He is expected to recover after undergoing emergency surgery.is locking up some of its products behind security glass as shoplifting remains a concern for retailers in the region amid an increase in shoplifting.

In a statement to Fox News Digital, a Target spokesperson said other media reports about all the store's products being locked up were not true.
