SAN JOSE — A woman died in a stabbing reported Sunday morning in South San Jose, and investigators continue to seek the person who attacked her, according to police.San Jose police officers were called at about 11:20 a.m. to the 5200 block of Vera Lane after getting a report of a person lying on the ground. They found a woman suffering from stab injuries, police said. She died at the scene.
Her name has not been publicly released pending her formal identification and notification of her next of kin by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office. “The motive and circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation,” reads a statement from San Jose police. “The suspect is unidentified and remains at large.”
The death is being investigated as the city’s ninth homicide of the year. San Jose had recorded 16 homicides by the same point in 2021, according to data compiled by this news organization.
