Patrick Allen Bournes has been charged with taking part in the notorious “tunnel” clash between rioters and police during the Capitol breach.
A Santa Clara man has been charged with a federal felony and other crimes after the FBI identified him as part of a mob that violently clashed with a police line trying to protect the U.S. Capitol during the Jan. 6, 2021 insurrection in Washington, D.C.
According to federal documents unsealed Monday, Bournes has been charged with a felony count of obstruction of law enforcement during a civil disorder, and misdemeanor counts alleging he illegally stayed on restricted grounds, committed disorderly conduct and engaged in physical violence on those grounds, and impeded passage through the Capitol grounds or buildings.
Federal prosecutors have not charged Bournes with directly assaulting any police officers, but allege that he “participated in the siege against law enforcement at the tunnel including by pushing against officers and assisting other rioters to push against the officers.”
