Defensive tackle Anthony Lanier II, who was eligible to test CFL free-agency Feb. 14, has re-signed with the Roughriders for one year.

Before heading to Canada, Lanier was in the NFL for five years. Most notably, he played in 15 games with the Washington Commanders over two seasons. As a second-year NFLer in 2017, Lanier played in 11 games — two of which he started at defensive end for Washington — and recorded five sacks, five tackles for a loss, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, 11 solo tackles, three assisted tackles and 10 quarterback hits.
The former Alabama A&M standout also spent time in the NFL with the Los Angeles Chargers, Kansas City Chiefs and New Orleans Saints.The sports world is ever-changing, as are the times.
