Saturday’s Seattle Kraken game at the New York Islanders has been postponed due to a weather-related state of emergency in New York.
Winds approaching hurricane intensity and the possibility of heavy snow will have the potential to knock out power, flood coastal areas and impair travel all along the East Coast.
Blizzard warnings on Friday were expanded to cover 10 million people across 10 states, including New York’s Long Island, where the game was scheduled to be played. New York City could see 8 to 12 inches of snow with 45 mph gusts, and there could be up to 14 inches in other parts of the state.Saturday’s Kraken game versus the Islanders will be postponed to Wednesday, Feb. 2, at 4 p.m.
