As storms were expected to continue through Sunday, one business on the northside of Jacksonville was still dealing with damage from Saturday’s storms.
Witnesses said a carwash awning at an Amoco gas station on Dunn Avenue was uprooted during Saturday’s storm.Michael Burton is a car washer at the Amoco gas station on Dunn Avenue.“It scared me. It was blowing everything, and I just got scared I was like, I didn’t know what was going on,” said Burton.He says he closed shop moments before it came down.
“I was just like wow. Thank God it didn’t snatch up while I was up under there. That’s the only thing I could think of,” Harris said.Witnesses say no one was injured. “It could have landed on anything. A person working down the sidewalk. That could’ve been kind of bad,” said Harris.
