A city survey of scooter-share riders in Seattle found 12% of those responding were hurt on a scooter.
The city launched the scooter program in 2020 and received survey results from more than 4,100 users late last year.
“Safety is one of the top priorities for everything we do at SDOT,” said spokesperson Ethan Bergerson. A December presentation by SDOT to a city council committee described 17 scooter incidents in police reports, including one death, but MacDonald said many scooter injuries wouldn’t require an officer.
