A new playground modeled after the classic Chutes & Ladders board game had it's grand opening today, June 20, 2023, in Harrisburg's Reservoir Park next to the Bandshell.
After more than a year of work, a new playground unlike any other in the area opened in Harrisburg’s Reservoir Park Tuesday, Jun. 20, 2023.
“Our parks are the cornerstone of our community,” said Mayor Wanda R.D. Willaims in a city press release. “Where families come together, laugh and share memories. Thirty years from now, the children here today will tell their children about the time their parents took them to the famous Chutes and Ladders Playground.”
Funded almost entirely through grants, including $724,802 from the city’s Community Development Block Grant, $250,000 from the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and nearly $50,000 from Harrisburg’s general fund. City officials are taking public input on how to use $13 million in grant money for improvements to the 7th & Radnor Park and Gorgas Playground, Wilson Playground behind Kline Plaza and Jackson Lick Pool on N. 6th St.
