Boyes will take over for Mike Freeman, who has served as the Ward 9 representative for more than 16 years. Freeman announced his retirement earlier this year.
The replacement levy will collect the same millage as the 2007 voted millage, however the rate homeowners pay will be based on home values in November 2023. The replacement levy will cost the owner of a $100,000 home $158 per year for the next six years, according to Support Summit DD Campaign Manager Billie Jo David. The funding will allow the board to support current individuals receiving services and account for an increased demand for services over the next six years, according to the board.
