Senate Dems are sounding the alarm over an amendment from Sen. Tom Cotton to the Iran War Powers resolution that could kill the entire effort. Amendment votes are slated begin at 10:30 a.m.
Senate Democrats warned on Thursday that an amendment from Sen. Tom Cotton could tank the effort to restrain President Donald Trump's war powers against Iran.
The effort to block Cotton's amendment comes hours before the Senate is set to vote on the War Powers resolution from Sen. Tim Kaine that would curb military action against Iran without approval from Congress. Young said Thursday he was undecided on the amendment but “in terms of the big picture, I want to make sure this resolution passes and that Congress finally does its darn job.” Kaine said Lee opposes Cotton’s amendment.“It says a lot about Democrats’ priorities if they consider allowing our troops to kill terrorists who threaten the United States a ‘poison pill,’” said Caroline Tabler, a spokeswoman for Cotton.
