Canandaigua , N.Y. — A registered sex offender accused of exposing himself to children several times was supposed to be sentenced Wednesday, but the proceedings came to a sudden halt.
District Attorney James Ritts said he's frustrated after a transportation error delayed Goodrell's sentencing. Ritts said his office ordered that Goodrell be transported from Elmira Correctional Facility for sentencing, but the Department of Corrections failed to do so — a disappointment to the victims.
Sentencing is now rescheduled for April 24. In the meantime, the DA's office is working to learn why Elmira didn't transport Goodrell for Wednesday's scheduled proceedings.
