Seton Hall Prep (West Orange, N.J.) freshman safety K.J. McClain is morphing into a national recruit like his brother, Jaylen, who has over 30 offers and is one of the most highly-recruited members of the NJ.com Top 50.
. Their father, Maurice, born in Elizabeth, N.J., starred at free safety for Syracuse from 1998 to 2002.
Coincidentally, Maurice posted a career-high five solo tackles and earned the game ball from his teammates following his first game back from said injury in 2001, his senior year. A junior who is ranked four-stars, Jaylen will pick between Oregon, Notre Dame, Penn state, Michigan State, Ohio state, Michigan, Tennessee, and in-stateMeanwhile, brother Kenyon will grow accustomed to the love blue-chips receive daily.
Just 14 years-old, Kenyon chimed in: “We have similar games, but Jaylen is more of a tackler, and I’m more of a hitter.” Kenyon’s offer transpired just days before his trek to Rutgers with his family, where he learned what it is to be courted by New Jersey’s flagship school. Penn State was first to offer Kenyon, followed by Rutgers, then Syracuse where he and Jaylen are legacy targets. Although both are equipped to play a plethora of roles, Maurice sees his sons as safeties.
