Seven Hills is currently in the middle of updating its antiquated zoning codes.

As part of that effort to overhaul its codes, some of which date back more than 70 years, City Council recently approved updated language regarding sheds and garages.

“Seven Hills lots vary greatly and the revised ordinance will better reflect those differences. For the most part, all homes were previously held to the same standard though some Seven Hills lots are four times larger than others. The revised ordinance will better reflect those lot size differences.”

The mayor said to the best of his knowledge the city’s zoning code had sporadic updates but has never been completely overhauled. As for sheds and garages, the intent is to make the zoning code more user-friendly for residents with fewer variance requests coming before City Council.
