Its last service day is Sunday.
Owners Eddo Kim and Clara Lee told customers in a lengthypost on Monday that they were “heartbroken” and that the last day of service is Oct. 16. While specific details about the decision to permanently close weren’t stated, the goodbye message suggested that the restaurant didn’t pick up traction as the owners had hoped.
“At the end of the day, Hotline is/was just a vision,” the message read in part. “And sometimes that vision just doesn’t click for everyone. We get it, I get it. No hard feelings. Perhaps Hotline just spoke its own language. Who knows. Maybe some day we’ll all finally get it.” Kim and Lee, who also own Korean superette Queens in San Francisco, suggested that the Hotline closure had been in the works for some time. SFGATE reached out for comment but did not hear back by publication.
