Photos: Ship Grounded Along Reunion Island Coast During Tropical Cyclone Batsirai
This aerial image taken Feb. 11, 2022, shows the Mauritian oil tanker Tresta Star, stranded off the coast of Reunion Island after the passage of Tropical Cyclone Batsirai.
A cargo ship became stranded after it ran aground on the southeastern coast of Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean during the recent Tropical Cyclone Batsirai. The gallery above shows images of the Tresta Star after it was stranded along the Saint-Philippe commune of the island, right at the spot of a lava flow created by a 2007 eruption of the Piton de la Fournaise volcano. The cargo ship had 11 crewmembers aboard, and all were rescued.
