Shonen Jump ends Fabricant 100 to make room for new titles.
Shueisha's Shonen Jump has once again canceled a promising new title, Fabricant 100, to make room for titles it believes may have an even brighter future as a series. Over the next weeks, three new series will make their debut in the magazine as part of the NEXTWAVE initiative, whose authors were all nominees for the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize Award.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT As revealed in Shonen Jump #40, Shueisha's weekly manga anthology that also publishes the latest news and announcements from the manga publisher, Daisuke Enoshima's Fabricant 100 concluded its story with the September 3, 2023, publication of its 36th chapter. Historically, Shonen Jump tends to cancel a title around its 30th Chapter so Fabricant 100 apparently was not able to escape that.
Fabricant 100 Foretold Its End In The Very First Issue Enoshima's Fabricant 100 debuted in December 2022. It revolves around Ashibi Yao, a young boy who having survived the massacre of his family by Frankenstein-like beings known as Fabricants, swears revenge. Teaming up with the last and strongest Fabricant - the story follows their journey of vengeance. Interestingly, at the time of its debut, Fabricant 100 was noted for having a story framework that isolated it from early cancelation.
Shonen Jump's New JUMP NEXTWAVE Campaign Hints Two More Titles Will Be Canceled The three new titles, which will debut in Shonen Jump #41, #42, and #43 respectively, are all part of Shonen Jump's new JUMP NEXTWAVE campaign. Based on the announcement, the campaign seeks to highlight outstanding manga artists who adhere to Osamu Tezuka's approach to manga storytelling.
According to Anime News Network, Hayashi's Mama YuYu is a new normal fantasy manga set in a world that chooses to co-exist with the Demon King, while Hokazono's Kagurabachi is about Chihiro, the young son of a swordsmith. Lastly, Itsumo's Two on Ice, revolves around a figure skater's encounter with a mysterious young girl in the skating rink.
