Shooters, from the beginning, was built for a party. If you remember The Drew Carey Show, the intro video shows the characters dancing on a deck. That’s Shooters. Michael Stanley filmed a video at the bar. Famous athletes were regulars.
It was 82 degrees, no rain, boats in the water, breeze blowing and drinks flowing, people having a good time.As the political football of waterfront development in Cleveland continues to spark debate, Shooters keeps chugging along. The seasonal bar-restaurant banks its livelihood on one of the best vantages in Cleveland, and this month is commemorating 35 years in business with a weeklong celebration .
Shooters' giant outdoor deck overlooks the Cuyahoga River and other restaurants and bars in the Flats and the Cleveland skyline. Things were different then – beer, for one thing, cost a buck. A pool used to be on the deck. The pool remains underneath the area where the stage is. If you walk across the deck, you can see its outline. “We’ve really got the best view. You look out there. The thing is, if we were like every other restaurant, we would have been in business three, four years, and then we’re out.”
