JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A shooting happened on Georgia Street in the Stadium District of Downtown Friday evening, according to theThe Jacksonville Fire & Rescue Department says the victim was in serious condition when they were taken to the hospital.
While they said there is no threat to the public, JSO shut down a large portion of Georgia street near Lot P of EverBank Stadium. They cordoned off sections of the parking lot as part of the crime scene. As of 9 p.m., they said some cars in Lot P could be stuck for several more hours. An officer with dispatch at JSO says they believe the shooter is in custody, but it is not confirmed at this time.
Police have not confirmed what time the shooting happened yet, so we do not know if it happened during graduation or the Jumbo Shrimp game.JSO says they will hold a press conference if there is more information to share.
