Police have not revealed the identity of the victims or comment on suspects.
At least one person died and another was injured after a shooting at Riverdale High School Graduation at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro late on Wednesday.
The shooting took place on campus, at the Murphy Center of MTSU, at about 8:51 p.m., as attendants and students were reportedly leaving the graduation ceremony, as reported by WKRN.arrived on the scene to find two victims near the campus' tennis courts - one who was pronounced dead on the scene and another who was taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds in"critical but stable conditions.
As a precautionary measure, the school is going to be closed on Thursday, Rutherford County Schools spokesperson James Evans said, as quoted by NewsChannel 5.MTSU ALERT: Shooting reported at Murphy Center. Leave the area if possible or shelter in place. Report suspicious activity to MTSU Police: 615-898-2424Authorities did not disclose the name of the victims and did not comment on the suspects, but an investigation is ongoing.
"Tonight's shooting at MTSU is a tragedy," Rutherford County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Dan Goodwin said, as quoted by NewsChannel 5. "We mourn with the family who lost a loved one and the victim injured. Police found two people suffering from gunshots near the tennis courts. The shooting occurred as individuals were leaving the graduation," Rutherford County Sheriff's Office Sgt.
