The post praised corporations like Pinterest, Estée Lauder, Motherly and Pipette for having recently posted company paid leave policies on social media and challenged other businesses to do the same. Thus, the hashtag,Engagement quickly picked up on the post as some users commented with their own experiences of paid leave policies as employees and as others tagged businesses directly to extend an invite to the conversation.
One of the first household name brands to hop on the paid leave posting trend was Etsy. The company’ssignaled a fairly robust policy noting 26 weeks of fully paid parental leave for all genders for birth, adoption or fostering of a new child; adoption or surrogacy reimbursement; the ability to trade leave for cash benefits; unlimited sick and caregiving time; and bereavement that would cover the loss of loved ones, pregnancy or even a pet.
