Six injured in Queens apartment fire, people jump from building

Six people suffered injuries with five of them taken to area hospitals, according to the NYFD.

It took fire crews about 30 minutes to extinguish the blaze that was located on the second floor of the three-story building. About 60 firefighters put the blaze out.One witness on the block saw a man climbing down a fire escape before he fell from the second story and appeared to break his leg. “It’s a sound I don’t want to hear again,” resident Steve Foustanellas said. “His leg split in the middle when he hit the concrete.”“He just fell and people were yelling and crying,” Foustanellas said.A dog was also apparently trapped before a door was opened and the pet escaped, Foustanellas said.
