Construction of Carvana’s controversial 14-story car vending tower in Skokie, approved just three months ago, is now on hold due to the temporary suspension of Carvana’s dealer’s license in Illinois.
that no construction or building permit submissions related to the tower would be reviewed, discussed or approved until the license issue is resolved with the state.
A spokesperson for the village confirmed that Carvana has yet to break ground on the site. Carvana did not immediately respond to a request for comment. “During the suspension order, Carvana may not sell vehicles in Illinois. Vehicles that have already been purchased, but not yet delivered can still be delivered to the purchasers during the suspension, but no new vehicle sales can occur in Illinois during the suspension order,” Haupt told WTTW News via email. “The suspension will remain in place until the issues are resolved.”
