The wintry precipitation will end by the afternoon, but effects of the storm will linger until the weekend, said Eric Martello, a senior meteorologist with the weather service’s Dallas-Fort Worth office.

The weather service anticipates up to 0.25 inches of ice and 3 inches of snow and sleet in Dallas accumulating through Thursday.most areas in North Texas will see between 1 and 3 inches of snow and sleet. Wind chill is what the cold air feels like to exposed skin, according to the weather service. People should bundle up in warm layers if headed out the door Thursday, the weather service advised.
