A Cessna Citation business went off the end of the runway after landing at Essex County Airport in Caldwell, around 2:45 p.m., with two people aboard, said a spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration. The FAA is investigating the cause of the incident. The people aboard were not identified by the FAA.
The two people aboard got out of the aircraft themselves and were uninjured, officials said. The eight-seat commuter jet aircraft is owned by GP Aviation Inc. of Bethlehem Pa., according to FAA records. Fairfield and West Caldwell police and fire, responded along with Essex County Sheriff’s officers and Nutley hazmat.. On April 4, a small plane crashed into the front yard of a house on South Main Street in Manville, not far from Central Jersey Regional Airport, where it was headed for.
