Smoke from Canadian wildfires is returning to Upstate New York skies, although it's unlikely to be as bad as last week. This map shows the expected density of smoke as of early Saturday morning.Syracuse, N.Y. -- Wildfires continue to burn in Canada, and a shift in the wind direction is bringing some of it back to upstate New York skies.

“As we get into Friday and over the weekend, there will be a north to northwest flow, and that could bring down some smoke and haze,” said Accuweather meteorologist John Gresiak.of last week, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. NOAA’s 24-hour forecast shows some smoke in the skies above New York starting Friday morning, but with little of it reaching the ground.
