A taste of winter will return Wednesday night, as a strong cold front sweeps across New Jersey.
Long stretches of our winter season felt like spring, and now a brief stretch of our spring season will feel like winter — thanks to a strong cold front that will bring frigid temperatures, gusty winds and light snow showers to parts ofWhile most of the northern half of the Garden State is expected to get light rain late Wednesday night into early Thursday morning, thesays temperatures will likely turn sharply colder as the front moves through between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m.
That “should cause the rain showers to change to snow showers in the elevated terrain up north, leaving a light coating in spots,” mainly in northwestern New Jersey and northeastern Pennsylvania, the weather service said in its daily forecast discussion Wednesday morning. In addition, winds could gust up to 30 to 40 mph in many areas of northern and central New Jersey overnight. And most of the state will also see temperatures drop down to the low 30s, with the northern region getting as cold as the upper 20s by Thursday morning.
