The process of removing Confederate names from military bases and replacing them with new ones has started. The military's Naming Commission has announced the first 9 U.S. army bases to be renamed.

Fort Gordon in Georgia becomes Fort Eisenhower after former President and General Dwight D. Eisenhower Kori Schake, a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute served on the commission’s board. Schake told Fox News,"I actually think Polk, Picket and Hood can't hold a candle to the people that we named [these bases] for. It felt really important to those of us on the commission to be able to choose people that all Americans can draw inspiration from." Fort Gordon, Georgia, will now be Fort Eisenhower.
