LAS VEGAS — When Arkansas head basketball coach Eric Musselman was at Nevada, he celebrated big wins by taking his shirt off and revving up the crowd.
With the win, UConn advances to the Elite Eight for the first time since they won the championship as a No. 7-seed in 2014. UConn, which had 22 assists, displayed better control and ball movement throughout, plus locked the Razorbacks down on defense. Now, he has them one win away from a Final Four trip to Houston, where UConn beat Butler in the championship game at NRG Stadium in 2011.
The moment wasn’t too big for the Razorbacks when they ousted the Jayhawks in the second round, but it was clear that the Huskies and Sweet 16 pressure got to them.The Razorbacks committed only four turnovers in the first half, but many of their missed shots were rushed and out of sorts, producing the same result as turnovers.
