Low-income Americans who missed the enrollment period for 2022 Affordable Care Act coverage can now sign up for plans with $0 premiums through the federal exchange.

Services is launching an outreach campaign about the special enrollment period, which lasts for the rest of the year. The effort is also aimed at helping those going through life changes that affect health insurance coverage, such as a job change, divorce, or aging out of a family policy.

The Biden administration has put more into subsidies and enrollment assistance to help people select policies on the federal marketplace. Officials have been trying to enroll more uninsured people, as well as those who may lose coverage as“We know this has been a tough time for a lot of people and want to make sure the door is always open for them to sign up for coverage,” Xavier Becerra, secretary for the Department of Health and Human Services, told CNN.
