UPDATE: Residents in the Red Cove area and anyone who is North or Northeast of Medina Lake is urged to take caution and prepare in case they need to evacuate, according to officials.
The Medina Valley ISD school district has opened Loma Alta MS as an evacuation center for residents having to evacuate their homes due to the brush fire.
Those who utilize the evacuation center should come in through the gym entrance, according to MVISD officials., winds have carried smoke and some ash into Boerne from the fire in Medina County. Boerne fire crews are also working a fire in the Comfort, Texas area, though details on this fire are scarce at this time. The New Braunfels Fire Department is assisting in fire response efforts in Comfort as well.A massive brush fire in Medina County that started Friday is now 60% contained, according to the Medina County Office of Emergency Management.
