The country plans to fully reopen its economy in November with the expectation that 80% of its adult population will be fully vaccinated.

South Korean authorities on Friday announced that they will lift stringent pandemic curbs on social gatherings next week—after several months of the restrictions—as it prepares to pivot to a ‘living with Covid’ strategy with more than 60% of its entire population fully vaccinated.... [+]From Monday, authorities will allow gatherings of up to four unvaccinated people and ease opening hour restrictions on businesses like restaurants, cafes and movie theaters.

While annoucing the loosening of restrictions—which have been in place since the country’s fourth wave in July—Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum said he hopes this will be the last adjustment to social distancing rules before the country returns to normalcy in November. A government panel established this week is currently drawing up a reopening plan for the month of November with the expectation that 80% of the country’s adult population will be fully vaccinated.62.5%.
