Many of the installations are coordinated with holiday tunes
“It’s quite serene,” says Space Center Houston’s Meridyth Moore of the display. “We’ve seen people just kind of have that true awe reaction.”Indoors, in the main plaza, two kinetic light shows offer bursts of color and rotating lights. One space-themed and another holiday-centric, the dynamic shows reveal shapes that come to life, including rockets, starbursts and holiday trees, thanks to technology that allows for millions of color combinations, Moore says.
Along their journey, visitors will see the entire solar system, along with constellations, represented in lights. Rockets dance and dart among the trees. Moore has seen families huddle together and couples hold hands inside a 200-foot light tunnel, denser this year thanks to additional bulbs. Along with hot chocolate and concessions, s’mores kits are available for purchase to roast at fire pits in Independence Plaza.
