The Spawn reboot movie gets a very positive update from creator Todd McFarlane, but he also has an ominous warning about its possible future.

Spawn creator Todd McFarlane has an insightful update about the future of the reboot movie. Spawn centers on the story of a marine who is tragically killed before his time. After being sent to Hell, he agrees to become a Hellspawn, giving him superhuman powers and the chance to serve as an anti-hero on Earth.

While the original Spawn movie was a critical flop, McFarlane wants to prove that the franchise is still viable by creating a Spawn cinematic universe, which can explore the entirety of the world that he created. However, there may be some obstacles in the way. In an interview with CBR, McFarlane explained that a looming writers' strike could pause the reboot's production.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY "The big one that seems like it's finally going to be a reality is the movie. I've always said that everything is going to get driven by what that means. So, the goal right now -- and we're all tracking on it -- is we're working on the next round of drafts on the script. Again, we added the Captain America writer and the Joker writer to this process. We're all hoping to have a script that we could go out to sell by mid-year.

Recent cancelations and show removals have been causing alarm for writers. With completed productions, including the blockbuster DC movie Batgirl being canceled, members of the cast and crew are losing months of their lives with little to show for it. Cancelations occurring without warning have also been a major recurring issue that leaves many Hollywood workers with no time to scramble for a new position.

Many shows are also being removed from streaming platforms, including HBO Max, which was a major controversy throughout 2022. Additionally, shows being removed, despite successful ratings, has been infuriating the Guild. While Netflix claims it never canceled a successful show, many writers are claiming otherwise and want to take collective action. If a strike does occur, Spawn certainly won't be the only production to face serious upheaval.
