The Spurs' Jeremy Sochan had one of his most productive games Saturday night against the Mavericks, logging 20 points on 7 of 12 shooting.NEW YORK — Spurs rookie forward Jeremy Sochan relished the turns he took defending Luka Doncic in Saturday’s 126-125 loss to Dallas.
Sochan’s season high of 23 points came in a loss to New Orleans on Dec. 22, but Saturday’s game might have been his most active on that end of the floor. It didn’t all go smoothly on the offensive end for Sochan. He missed a running finger-roll layup attempt with the Spurs trailing 124-123 with 5.7 seconds left after he stole an errant pass by Tim Hardaway Jr.
“We have seen it from the beginning of the year,” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. “He plays a great all-around game. He continues to work on his shooting. But he does everything for us - defensively, moving the ball, handling the ball, playing some point. He is doing a little bit of many different things on the court.”Guard Devin Vassell, the Spurs’ second-leading scorer, missed his second game in a row with a sore left knee, an ailment that has bothered him throughout the season.
