The former Alabama All-American sustained an ankle injury in Saturday’s United Football League contest against Birmingham.
St. Louis Battlehawks quarterback AJ McCarron passes during a United Football League game against the Birmingham Stallions on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Protective Stadium in Birmingham.All-American will be able to stay in the lineup for their game against the D.C. Defenders on Sunday, but coach Anthony Becht, when he met with reporters on Monday, did not say McCarron wouldn’t play.
“All three quarterbacks will get reps,” Becht said about the Battlehawks’ preparation plans. “We’re going to have to prepare for every angle. Last year, we had our backup play a game after an injury. We made a decision not to play , pull him back and to rest him. We were able to get through that game and win against Vegas at home.
Like McCarron, Silvers is a former Alabama high school star. McCarron played at St. Paul’s Episcopal in Mobile, and Silvers played at Gulf Shores.. Since then, Silvers has started games for the Memphis Express of the Alliance of American Football in 2019, Seattle Sea Dragons of the XFL in 2020, the Conquerors of the Spring League in 2021 and the Houston Roughnecks of the XFL in 2023 before joining St. Louis in 2024.
